Recently I realized that something was missing from my life – I’m just not having fun anymore. Adults often get caught up in their day-to-day obligations — work, household chores, chauffeuring the kids around, etc. that we just don’t make the time for fun. Saturday afternoon as I was folding laundry, I looked out the window and saw my daughter jumping on our trampoline alone. I thought to myself, “What am I doing? I should be out there with her having fun instead of folding this stupid laundry!” So I did just that. I went outside with my 2 kids and I have to say I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun! I was awful and when I fell both of my kids yelled “popcorn!” and started bouncing me all over the place like a popcorn machine. It was hysterical! I laughed and screamed so loud my neighbors must’ve thought I was crazy!
We grown-ups need more fun in our lives. At work, you can inject some fun and still be productive. Whether you’re horsing around with your colleagues or interacting with others online, try to add some fun to your day.
Social media should feel like fun too. If you approach it as another chore, it will become a chore. If you feel like it’s just another obligation on your long to-do list, it will come across that way and your followers will pick up that your heart really isn’t into it.
Be social for the fun of it. If you don’t feel like tweeting today, then don’t. Wait for another day when your heart is in it and your followers will appreciate your enthusiam. Be honest. Be happy. Have fun!

Hi Liz,
What can I say? Congrats. The trampoline looks like a blast. Chorification is a serious problem in this country. I disliked chores as a kid and keep my adult ones to a minimum. Even then, I try and mix them with fun. I might fold towels while I learn a new karaoke song! You could fold towels and bounce on the trampoline at the same time — even in mid-air …
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go a climb a tree that’s been beckoning me.
Fun … Giulietta
Hi Julie,
I have a feeling you’re one adult who really knows how to have fun! And that makes you one of the lucky ones!
