Why Your Business Needs a Facebook Page

December 30, 2011 By Liz Gallagher Leave a Comment
Facebook Page for Web Image Designs

Social media has made great strides in gaining a foothold in the business world over the last year. Yet it’s still an uphill battle to convince many entrepreneurs it’s worth their time to invest in the social media scene.

Social media platforms will surely continue to evolve at a rapid rate as viral marketing spreads at a fever pitch. Like it or not, though, social media is here to stay.

There is no “one-size-fits-all” social media formula that applies across the board to every type of business. Each company is unique and should develop a customized online marketing strategy. However, the one platform that every business ought to be on is Facebook.

Let’s have fun with social media

June 29, 2010 By Liz Gallagher

Trampoline Fun Trampoline Fun

Recently I realized that something was missing from my life – I’m just not having fun anymore.  Adults often get caught up in their day-to-day obligations — work, household chores, chauffeuring the kids around, etc. that we just don’t make the time for fun.  Saturday afternoon as I was folding laundry, I looked out the window and saw my daughter jumping on our trampoline alone.  I thought to myself, “What am I doing?  I should be out there with her having fun instead of folding this stupid laundry!”  So I did just that.  I went outside with my 2 kids and I have to say I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun!  I was awful and when I fell both of my kids yelled “popcorn!” and started bouncing me all over the place like a popcorn machine.  It was hysterical!  I laughed and screamed so loud my neighbors must’ve thought I was crazy!

March 3, 2010 By Liz Gallagher
Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter

Facebook Friends.
Twitter Followers.
LinkedIn Connections.

Everyone is following everyone else.  Sometimes I wonder if this is this just a numbers game.  He who gets the most followers wins?

Make Every Monday Cyber Monday with Social Media

November 30, 2009 By Liz Gallagher
Online Shopping

We all love a bargain.

OK.  I admit it.  The first thing I did when I got to work this morning was to go online to see if there were any amazing Cyber Monday sales online.  I really didn’t find anything that knocked my socks off, but it got me thinking about how businesses could create their own “Cyber Monday” phenomenon using social media.

Everyone likes to feel like they are getting a good deal.  Why not give your customers what they want?  A Cyber Monday special every Monday!  Why save it for just the Monday after Thanksgiving?

The Power of Social Media

October 17, 2009 By Liz Gallagher

If you haven’t already realized the power of social media to reach large audiences in a short amount of time, I have a great example to convince you.

Beat Cancer

Yesterday I was reading through some of my favorite blogs and came across a story on Mashable about eBay/PayPal & Miller Lite raising money for cancer research – a cause close to my heart after losing my dad to cancer last year.  Of course I had to find out more, so I went to http://beatcancereverywhere.com and learned that a $0.01 donation would be made to cancer research for every mention of the #beatcancer hashtag in a blog post, Facebook update or Twitter tweet in a 24-hour period.  In addition to raising money for cancer, they were trying to set a Guinness World Record for social media mentions.

Facebook : Mixing Business with Pleasure

August 27, 2009 By Liz Gallagher

A few weeks ago I posted this question on LinkedIn for discussion, “Is Facebook for Business?”  The business benefits from LinkedIn are obvious and I can see the merits of Twitter, but it’s more difficult to see how Facebook falls into the business picture. On Facebook, you can have both a personal page and a business page – and I like that separation. However, business colleagues keep finding my personal page. So I keep wondering, do I mix business with pleasure?

Getting to 100% – Completing Your LinkedIn Profile

August 18, 2009 By Liz Gallagher

Most people get started on LinkedIn when a friend or colleague sends an email requesting that you “join my professional network on LinkedIn.”  You need to sign up first and a very basic profile is created.  So you join their network and now what?  A lot of people do nothing more.  They have an empty profile with only one connection.  What does that say about you and your business?
