I recently came across a blog post on ugly websites which claimed that design is not all that important and some of the most successful websites on the Internet are in face quite ugly. The four websites that were looked at are: Google, Craigslist, eBay & PlentyOfFish.
I don’t disagree that these web sites are both unattractive and successful, but I do disagree that all businesses can achieve that level of success with a poorly designed web site.

Social media has made great strides in gaining a foothold in the business world over the last year. Yet it’s still an uphill battle to convince many entrepreneurs it’s worth their time to invest in the social media scene.
Social media platforms will surely continue to evolve at a rapid rate as viral marketing spreads at a fever pitch. Like it or not, though, social media is here to stay.
There is no “one-size-fits-all” social media formula that applies across the board to every type of business. Each company is unique and should develop a customized online marketing strategy. However, the one platform that every business ought to be on is Facebook.

I’ve been working in the computer industry for over 20 years and the one thing that hasn’t changed is the use of acronyms. I remember being a young engineer, discussing a project with my team and thinking how amazing it was that we all understood this strange language of acronyms intertwined with English. An outsider listening in would probably understand little of the conversation and perhaps wonder if some of these “words” were from another language.

Columbia has decided to “cash in” on the .CO domain extension which is recognized worldwide as an abbreviation for Company, Corporation and Commerce. This appears to be the first truly global and recognizable domain that the world has seen in years.
